Total imports for automobiles, trucks, vans, automotive parts, and accessories have slightly decreased from $557 million in 2017, to $527 million in 2018 and $520 million in 2019[1], with second-hand vehicles representing 80 percent of the market.  There is an emerging interest among Senegalese for U.S.-brand vehicles and market opportunities for the supply of spare parts.  There is a small assembly plant for the production of buses and cars supported by Indian, Chinese, and Iranian interests.  The parts are imported in kits and assembled locally.
