Prohibited and Restricted Imports

All prohibited or restricted imports in Malta require an import license – see section entitled Trade Barriers.  The list of items which would normally require an import license is contained in the following National regulation: Subsidiary Legislation 117.14, Importation Control Regulations:

The TARIC also enumerates various rules that apply to specific products imported into the EU customs territory.  To determine if a product is prohibited or subject to restriction, check the TARIC for that product for the following codes:

CITES                      Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species

PROHI                     Import Suspension

RSTR                       Import Restriction
