Pakistan has no uniform or universal system of imposing labeling and marking requirements on products. However, individual industries or sectors are subject to the regulations of specific bodies. For example, the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination sets requirements for the pharmaceutical industry. The Ministry of Agriculture sets requirements for pesticides and edible products. In February 2019, the government of Pakistan through Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) enacted a Special Regulatory Order (SRO) 237 (1) 2019, which bans the import of processed food products without labeling in local language and halal certification.
