Overview

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Regional Office of Agricultural Affairs in Dubai reports on agricultural issues and statistics for member countries of the GCC, excluding the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Agricultural reports and trade statistics can be found on the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service website.

Kuwait is the third largest GCC market for U.S. food products where imports reached $319,3 million in 2022, an increase of 15% comparing to $277.6 million in 2021. Consumer-ready products such as tree nuts, prepared food, snack foods, dairy, poultry and beef products represent some of the best prospects for U.S. food sales in Kuwait.

After the global pandemic, the government of Kuwait took steps to secure its food supply including make deals for exclusive and allocating more land for farming. Four vertical farms have opened since 2021. Products to improve crop yields in Kuwait’s nutrient-poor and harsh climate are in high demand.
