Transportation and Logistics Trade Mission to Saudi Arabia

Transportation and Logistics Trade Mission to Saudi Arabia

December 2 - 5, 2023
Riyadh, Jeddah
Saudi Arabia

The United States Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration (ITA) is excited to announce a Transportation & Logistics Trade Mission to Saudi Arabia (link here to Transportation Trade Mission Federal Register Announcement). Participating U.S. firms will gain market insights, make industry and government contacts, solidify business strategies, and advance specific projects with the goal of increasing U.S. smart/intermobility technology exports, as well as product and service exports to this rapidly expanding market.

*Only U.S. companies or companies with U.S. headquarters whose products and/or services have at least 51% U.S. content are eligible for this Trade Mission.

Why Should Transportation & Logistics Companies Consider Saudi Arabia?

Saudi Arabia’s transportation industry has continued to flourish in recent years. This growth is in large part due to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 economic diversification initiative, which aims to transform the country into a regional and international logistical and aviation hub for tourism and transportation. In 2021, the Saudi Arabian Government announced plans to invest $147 billion in transport and logistics by 2030, and it has allocated $9.06 billion for its infrastructure and transportation sector in its fiscal year 2023 budget.

Under Vision 2030, the Kingdom launched the National Transport and Logistics Strategy which aims to improve all transport services and transform Saudi Arabia into a leading trans-regional logistical hub. This will require expanding, digitally transforming and interconnecting the entire transportation ecosystem (ports, rail and road networks, shipping lines, and air).
The Saudi Ministry of Transportation & Logistics is seeking to incorporate the highest standards in innovative transport solutions into its road, rail, marine, and air infrastructure.

Moving forward in 2023, there is a strong Saudi demand across all segments of this industry, as air, sea and land transport move to adopt smart/intermobility and electric mobility technologies to meet Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals.

Mission Scenario

The trade mission will include one-on-one business appointments with potential buyers, distributors, and joint venture partners. In addition, delegates will participate in meetings with key government authorities and companies such as the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, the Specialized Integrated Logistics Zone, Saudi Arabia Railways and more, as well as with business groups like the Council of Saudi Chambers, who will address several topics like procurement, tenders, policies, and regulations. Mission participants will also connect with U.S. Government officials based in the region to discuss industry developments and opportunities.

Target sectors with potential for U.S companies include:

  • This proposed trade mission will maintain an open definition to target sectors within the transportation and logistics industry which includes railway, maritime and roads.
  • Smart/intermodal transport technologies, products and services, including logistics solutions providers, 3PL technology, warehousing, and, smart seaport infrastructure.
  • Electric mobility (buses, vans, trains, apps), including green hydrogen and electric vehicle charging stations and equipment, autonomous technology, EV batteries, EV powertrain components, hydrogen vehicles, Big Data/AI/IOT, software providers, and mobility service providers.
  • Traffic management solution providers, including freight and transit tracking, big data management, communication and connectivity technologies, smart infrastructure, and payment technologies for smart cities.
