WASHINGTON – Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Marisa Lago has released the following statement after participating in the groundbreaking for the LEGO Group’s new $1 billion, carbon-neutral run factory in Virginia’s Chesterfield County.
“Congratulations to the LEGO Group on breaking ground for their new facility in Central Virginia. Across Virginia and throughout the United States, we see great examples of foreign direct investment (FDI) as a result of collaboration between government and industry.
FDI plays an important part in local economies and directly supports over 197,000 jobs in Virginia. The U.S. Department of Commerce welcomes investments by foreign-owned companies in the United States that spur job creation and enhance the type of economic development that make our communities more resilient, prosperous and equitable.”
