WASHINGTON – Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Marisa Lago will travel to Brasilia, Brazil, from November 4-7, 2023, to advance the U.S.-Brazil commercial relationship and boost bilateral trade and investment.

On November 6, Under Secretary Lago will co-chair the 21st plenary of the U.S.-Brazil Commercial Dialogue with Brazil’s Secretary for Foreign Trade Tatiana Prazeres. During the plenary, Under Secretary Lago and Secretary Prazeres will receive status updates from the seven working groups on their activities over the past year and their plans to prevent, reduce and remove non-tariff barriers to trade next year. The two leaders will later present a readout of the discussions to U.S. and Brazilian private sector representatives and business leaders at a gathering hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Brazil, the Brazil-U.S. Business Council and the National Confederation of Industries. Under Secretary Lago will also participate in an industry roundtable discussion on the importance of strengthening public-private partnerships to enhance supply chain resiliency.

On November 7, Under Secretary Lago will meet with the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade to discuss plans for 12th plenary of the U.S.-Brazil CEO Forum. Additionally, she will meet with the Ministry of Health to discuss Brazil’s active participation in Americas RISE for Health, a U.S. Department of Commerce-led initiative that brings together ministers and vice-ministers across the Western Hemisphere to collaborate on building resilient, inclusive, sustainable, and equitable health ecosystems and economies in the Americas.
