WASHINGTON - On Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023, the International Trade Administration’s (ITA) U.S. Commercial Service, Shaw University, and the North Carolina District Export Council will host a ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony as the U.S. Commercial Service office in Raleigh, North Carolina, officially moves to its new location on Shaw University’s campus.
Strategically located inside the Shaw University campus, America’s oldest historically Black college in the South, the new location for the U.S. Commercial Service office in Raleigh will allow for collaboration with the university and the North Carolina District Export Council to identify small and medium-sized enterprises from underrepresented communities in order to provide services and export assistance to businesses looking to expand their sales into international markets.
Kendee Yamaguchi, Deputy Assistant Secretary for the U.S. Field, Shaw University President Paulette R. Dillard, and representatives from the North Carolina District Export Council and local, state and federal governments, as well as representatives from the nonprofit and private sectors will be in attendance. The ceremony and grand opening of the office are open to both the public and the press.
“Across the globe, there is a strong and consistent demand for U.S. products and services,” said Kendee Yamaguchi, Deputy Assistant Secretary for the U.S. Field. “Our job at the U.S. Commercial Service is to help your business find success abroad through exports. Equitable and sustainable growth is the heart of the Biden-Harris Administration, and this partnership with Shaw University and the North Carolina District Export Council will help ensure that we increase our nation’s pool of exporters while enhancing the global competitiveness of U.S. businesses.”
ITA’s U.S. Commercial Service is dedicated to helping American businesses, large and small, succeed internationally through exports and is comprised of a global network of experienced trade professionals located in more than 100 locations throughout the United States, including now, two historically Black colleges and universities, and more than 80 U.S. embassies and consulates abroad.
