WASHINGTON - Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Diane Farrell will lead the U.S. delegation to the second annual meeting of the Americas RISE for Health initiative in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, from March 10-11, 2024, to advance resilient, inclusive, sustainable and equitable (RISE) health ecosystems across the Americas.
This year, the Americas RISE for Health meeting plans to focus on advancing seven workstream projects that will help to increase trade, investment and manufacturing, promote sustainable job creation, improve regulatory environments, identify financing opportunities, and promote ethical, equitable and inclusive health outcomes.
“Americas RISE for Health is a first-of-its-kind, inclusive effort convening governments, private sectors, and civil society across the Americas to develop concrete efforts to strengthen health and economies across the region,” said Deputy Under Secretary Farrell. “I look forward to leading the U.S. delegation to the second annual meeting of Americas RISE for Health to drive progress forward towards realizing our shared vision.”
Announced by Deputy Secretary of Commerce Don Graves at the Ninth Summit of the Americas held in 2022, the Americas RISE for Health initiative is led by the U.S. Department of Commerce with support from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, as well as the Governments of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Uruguay. A multisectoral forum, the Americas RISE for Health initiative also includes strong involvement from participating countries’ private sectors, civil society organizations, and academia to ensure that the initiative’s efforts have broad stakeholder support and are inclusive, effective, and sustainable.
