TORONTO – Today, Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Diane Farrell will headline the 8th SelectUSA Canada Conference, which is the International Trade Administration’s (ITA) largest in-country investment attraction event in Canada to increase awareness of SelectUSA program services. Potential Canadian investor companies have the opportunity to network with U.S. economic development organizations (EDO) to learn more about investing in or expanding their U.S. presence. Participants of the event are often invited to apply to attend the annual SelectUSA Investment Summit, which will be held May 11-14, 2025, in National Harbor, Maryland.
At the SelectUSA Canada Conference, Deputy Under Secretary Farrell will provide opening remarks to welcome participants from over 20 U.S. EDOs and approximately 100 Canadian companies. Following her remarks, the day-long program will feature a series of panel sessions with subject matter experts providing information related to investing in the United States.
While in Toronto, the Deputy Under Secretary will also meet with potential Canadian investors to discuss their current and prospective projects in the United States and learn more about their investment plans. She will also engage with senior Canadian business leaders to discuss developments and opportunities in ongoing efforts to increase critical mineral supply chain resilience across North America.
Housed within ITA, the SelectUSA program promotes and facilitates business investment into the United States. Since its inception, SelectUSA has facilitated more than $200 billion in client-verified foreign direct investment, supporting more than 200,000 jobs throughout the United States and its territories.
