Deputy Under Secretary Farrell Advances Bilateral Commercial Relations in Serbia and Germany

WASHINGTON - From November 11-15, Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Diane Farrell, traveled to Belgrade, Serbia, and Düsseldorf, Germany, to advance bilateral economic relations and build new transatlantic commercial partnerships.

From November 11-13 in Belgrade, Deputy Under Secretary Farrell met with several Serbian government officials, including Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, Minister of Information and Telecommunications Mihajlo Jovanović and the Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedović. She discussed U.S. private sector capabilities to assist Serbia’s energy transition.

The Deputy Under Secretary also discussed ways to explore further government-to-government engagement to enhance mutual economic prosperity and advance shared priorities for trade and investment in key sectors. Additionally, Deputy Under Secretary Farrell participated in an IT Business Roundtable, hosted by AmCham Serbia, to discuss this critical sector’s top issues.

From November 14-15 in Düsseldorf, Deputy Under Secretary Farrell led ITA’s delegation to MEDICA, the world’s largest medical trade show. She met with German government officials and U.S. and German private sector representatives to advance new U.S.-German cooperation on artificial intelligence, digital technologies, green technology, and a skilled workforce. She also promoted women’s leadership in entrepreneurship at a Women’s Leadership Exchange where she highlighted ITA’s EMPOWER HER Initiative in partnership with AmCham EU and gave keynote remarks at a panel, “Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare: U.S and EU Perspectives.”
