Assistant Secretary Venkataraman Leads Clean Energy and Environmental Technologies Business Development Trade Mission to India

WASHINGTON - Between March 4-8, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets Arun Venkataraman will travel to New Delhi and Mumbai, India, where he will lead 12 U.S. businesses and organizations on the International Trade Administration’s (ITA) Clean EDGE (Enhancing Development and Growth through Clean Energy) and Environmental Technologies Business Development Mission to India. The mission will support the United States’ vision of growing sustainable and secure clean energy markets in India and protecting human health and the environment by promoting U.S. exports and removing trade barriers.
In addition to leading the business development mission, the Assistant Secretary will also co-host a U.S.-India Innovation Handshake event on March 6 that will convene tech startups, venture capital firms, and other business stakeholders that seek to contribute to strengthening U.S.-India technology and innovation ties. An outcome of Prime Minister Modi’s historic state visit in 2023, the U.S.-India Innovation Handshake is an initiative that aims to connect the two countries’ dynamic startup ecosystems and promote innovation and job growth.
“This trade mission comes at a critical period in our shared global effort to accelerate the clean energy transition and meet ambitious climate goals,” said Assistant Secretary Venkataraman. “I am pleased to be leading this delegation of innovative U.S. companies to India, a critical partner in this global effort, to find ways for U.S. clean tech innovation to support India’s green transition.”
The trade mission will begin in New Delhi and carry on to Mumbai, with an optional stop in Chennai on March 11. Over the course of the mission, participants will gain critical market insights from ITA’s trade experts and meet with prospective foreign business partners and key decision-makers, with the aim of promoting the acceleration and deployment of clean energy and environmental solutions to help India meet its climate objectives.
