Taiwan Taoyuan Airport
Taiwan airports handled a 72 million passengers in 2019. Although COVID-19 sharply reduced the civil and commercial aviation sector in Taiwan in 2020, the Taiwan authorities plan to continue the expansion and upgrade plan at Taiwan’s largest airport, Taoyuan International Airport, which is the 8th busiest cargo airport worldwide and the 36th busiest airport by passenger traffic worldwide. The expansion project comprises a new Terminal 3 building, boarding gates, runways, concourses, a network of service roads, and a transportation system. With an estimated budget that exceeds US$ 3.1 billion, the Terminal 3 project is currently the single largest construction project in Taiwan and is scheduled to be completed in 2026.
In addition to this major construction project, the Taoyuan International Airport Corporation (TIAC) regularly upgrades the airport’s navigation facilities, instrument landing systems, and airside solutions. The Taiwan Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) Air Navigation and Weather Service (ANWS) also has started planning work on the “Taipei Flight Information Region’s New General Air Traffic Management System.” These projects offer opportunities for U.S. businesses to supply airport equipment and services, construction equipment, ground support equipment, airport safety and security services, security equipment, and passenger service equipment.
