Taiwan Broadcasting Equipment
Taiwan imports about 80 percent of its telecommunications and broadcasting equipment, most of which is from China. The United States has a market share of approximately 10 percent of Taiwan’s imported telecommunications equipment.
Taiwan’s broadcasting equipment market is following a Japan-led trend to move from 4K to 8K resolution. The 8K resolution will likely primarily be supplied through streaming services beginning in 2022/23. As long as Taiwan still uses 4K equipment, U.S. broadcasting and equipment suppliers that produce 4K-related products and services will continue to enjoy a good market in Taiwan.
Taiwan’s strong ICT manufacturing sector; more than 80 percent national internet usage rate; and respect for intellectual property rights, and privacy make Taiwan companies attractive partners for U.S. companies interested in pursuing opportunities. Taiwan companies often seek partnerships with U.S. companies when expanding beyond Taiwan. If U.S. companies seek to explore this possibility, they should contact CS Taiwan.
