Poland Cybersecurity and Digitization Strategy
Polish Ministry of Digital Affairs has presented a draft Polish Digitization Strategy. Poland plans to spend 2,5 billion USD on cybersecurity and digitization of Poland from 2025 to 2026. Minister of Digital Affairs Gawkowski announced that 0.7 billion USD will be spent on cybersecurity, in cooperation with Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) and USD 0,5 billion on support of construction of high-speed internet.
The Ministry also announced that 5% of Polish GDP will be dedicated to digital development. According to the Ministry, Poland is amongst the top five countries in the world prepared for defensive actions in cybersecurity area. Cybersecurity, new technologies, and cyber diplomacy will be Poland’s strategic goals during EU presidency that will start on January 1, 2025. In the recently announced Digitization Strategy, the Polish Ministry stipulated that 5% of Polish GDP will be dedicated to digital development. Key priorities of the government include providing citizens with digital access to public services, developing basic digital skills for 85% of population, and using AI tools in companies. Among other priorities, the Minister discussed moving infrastructure into the cloud, which will also increase Polish security.
U.S. suppliers of digital services interested in entering the Polish market should consider working with Polish partners, as Polish project sponsors usually mandate that support be available locally and in the Polish language.
