Argentina: New Nutritional Labeling Requirements
On March 23, 2022, the Argentine Government introduced a new requirement (via Decree 151/2022) that requires a label to be placed on processed foods and non-alcoholic beverages that are deemed to contain excess fats, salt, and sugar in an attempt to combat obesity, hypertension, and cardiac risks.
Companies are required to display black octagon labels on their product packaging. The timeline for compliance is nine months for large companies and 15 months for SMEs.
