Turkmenistan signed a Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) with the United States, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan in 2004.  The Central Asia TIFA established a regional forum to discuss ways to improve investment climates and expand trade within Central Asia.
