Import duties are generally calculated on an ad-valorem basis (a percentage of the goods’ value).  In addition to the duties above, imported products are subject to a value added tax and special consumption tax, which apply to specific goods.  The customs schedule at the General Directorate of Customs should be consulted for a better understanding of the tariffs that apply to specific goods.
