Burkina Faso is a member of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU, or UEMOA in French), which imposes a Common External Tariff (Tarif Extérieur Commun) with four rates: 0%, 5%, 10%, and 20%. The average applied tariff in 2016 was 11.5% for non-agricultural products, and 14.6% for agricultural products. However, as of October 2016, the ECOWAS CET entered into force in all member countries, except in Guinea-Bissau. The ECOWAS CET covers five bands (zero, 5%, 10%, 20%, and 35%).
