The U.S. Government support of construction and mining related equipment involves export promotion of machinery, research and data for U.S. trade policy negotiations, and evaluation of the impact of global economic and regulatory policies for the machinery industries. International support for construction machinery and related equipment can be requested by individuals, firms and consortiums with 51% U.S. content. Trade promotion through The U.S. Commercial Service
- Provide export assistance to help U.S. construction and mining machinery and related equipment exporters penetrate new international markets and increase export market share
- Counsel and resolve specific market access and development challenges.
Trade policy and data through The Office of Transportation and Machinery
Develop and recommend U.S. policy positions for multilateral and bilateral discussions related to the U.S. building products, chemicals, and metals industries.
- Provide information, trade data, and industry analysis to the U.S. business community, policymakers, and trade negotiators.
- Serve as co-lead for U.S. government-led green building standards projects in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum.
- Represent numerous U.S. government interagency working groups geared to advancing the competitiveness of construction and mining machinery and related equipment.
- Serve as lead for three Industry Trade Advisory Committees to ensure U.S. industry’s voice is included in trade policy development for the building products, chemicals, forest products, and steel industries.
Commercial Diplomacy through The U.S. Advocacy Center
- Coordinates U.S. Government (USG) resources to level the playing field on behalf of U.S. business interests as they compete against foreign firms for government contracts or other U.S. export opportunities.
- USG Advocacy assistance varies but typically involves the engagement of high-level USG officials with overseas governments or government-owned corporations.
- In addition, the Advocacy Center has liaisons to five Multilateral Development Banks to assist U.S. firms and to advocate on their behalf when they compete for Bank-funded tenders.
