New York Manufacturer Leverages CS Support to Expand Globally
Located in North Syracuse, NY, DL Manufacturing evaluates existing loading dock processes and procedures, then designs and manufactures innovative solutions to improve production, reduce maintenance and promote safety. The company began by providing lighting for loading docks to illuminate the trailers and containers being loaded and unloaded. Most recently, they have developed the Dynamic Dock Seal – an innovative system to properly seal variable truck heights and variable door heights, as well as AERO TEC AC that pumps chilled air into trailers and containers to provide relief to employees working in extreme environments.
DL Manufacturing had questions about complying with the EU Market Surveillance and Product Compliance Regulation. A large customer of theirs purchases air conditioning units used in their warehouses in Spain and compliance was essential to keep this important customer.
The U.S. Commercial Service Office in Syracuse facilitated a conversation between DL Manufacturing and the USDOC’s Office of Western and Northern Europe in Washington DC. The client was given the details of the new EU regulations, guidance on how they could best comply, and names of qualified contacts who could serve as a ‘responsible person’ for DL Manufacturing, as dictated by the regulation.
Additionally, we referred DL Manufacturing to several translation service providers who could translate their marketing materials into Spanish and Italian.
Lastly, DL Manufacturing was invited to register for the multi-part Export Documentation and Logistics Webinar Series as part of the U.S. Commercial Service Export Week programming. This series featured USG and private sector experts presenting on a multitude of export documentation and logistics topics.
Through this USDOC guidance and referrals, DL Manufacturing was able to meet the recent Market Surveillance and Product Compliance Regulation and to identify a ‘responsible person’ to meet the requirements of the EU regulation 2019/1020. They attended the webinar series on Export Documentation and Logistics in 2024, making them better prepared to manage their documentation and logistics obligations for their EU and other foreign customers.
