New Jersey Exporter Scores Second Global Sale of Spray Vitamins

Trade Specialist Tricia McLain of the U.S. Commercial Service in Northern New Jersey has been working with Spectra Spray Global since meeting at a Women’s Entrepreneurship Week event in 2017. Exporting was uncharted territory for the company at the time. Tricia counseled the company on HS codes, EU product registration, export pricing, grant programs, and provided research on Italy, Turkey, Greece, Russia, and the Caribbean and Nordic regions. Soon Spectra Spray made its first export sale to Singapore, after taking Tricia’s advice and participating in a ‘catalog show’ event during a new eldercare/healthcare trade show in Singapore.  

In January 2020, Spectra Spray’s CEO contacted Tricia regarding a potential business opportunity in Ukraine. They wanted to know about doing business there, so Tricia provided current market research about the country and connected the CEO with her colleague at the U.S. Commercial Service in Ukraine. CS Ukraine provided information on country regulations and helped the CEO understand market opportunities and shortly thereafter introduced her to a vetted buyer that was well-known to CS Ukraine. CS Ukraine helped Spectra Spray overcome skepticism on doing business in Ukraine, and ultimately it led to them signing a 5-year agreement worth $65,000.
