Exporter Overcomes Challenge and Ships Product to Germany
Zephyr International, a manufacturer of helicopter hoist maintenance and repair equipment, contacted the U.S. Commercial Service (CS) for help resolving an exporting challenge. The South Carolina-based company faced difficulty when attempting to export repaired items back to its client in Germany.
Phil Minard, director of CS Charleston, stepped in to resolve the issue. He provided Zephyr with guidance on Schedule B classification and the correct export documentation. CS trade experts in Germany also consulted with German Customs officers.
With the proper documentation, Zephyr was able to return the repaired equipment to a major customer in Germany and continue to export to Europe. The valuable information and facilitation led Zephyr International to turn exports into a significant portion of its total sales.
“We value having the U.S. Commercial Service as a resource available to us, which we can count on when experiencing exporting issues.” – Elizabeth Bielsa-Mitchell, Owner, Zephyr
