WASHINGTON - From July 16-20, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Marisa Lago will lead the International Trade Administration’s first all-women delegation of trade experts to the United Kingdom to attend the Farnborough International Air Show, one of the world’s largest aerospace, aviation and defense trade events.
In addition to Under Secretary Lago, the delegation will consist of Deputy Assistant Secretary for Manufacturing Monica Gorman, Advocacy Center Executive Director Cynthia Aragon and key ITA staff. Under Secretary Lago will attend to highlight the economic and national security importance of the U.S. aerospace, aviation and defense industries, champion opportunities for women and underrepresented groups in those sectors and support the more than 230 U.S. companies showcasing at the event.
“Global aerospace, aviation and defense are sectors in which women now more than ever before are uniquely positioned to provide tremendous skillsets and talents to help this industry grow,” said Under Secretary Lago. “High-technology comes with high-paying jobs, and the Department of Commerce is committed to fostering the continued growth of this sector through exports and bringing awareness to the strengths that come with a highly-skilled and diversified workforce.”
