Assistant Secretary Venkataraman to Travel to Paris, Riga and Vilnius to Deepen Transatlantic Commercial Engagement

WASHINGTON - From October 9-13, Arun Venkataraman, the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets and Director General of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service, will embark on a diplomatic journey to bolster transatlantic economic relations. His itinerary includes visits to Paris, France; Riga, Latvia; and Vilnius, Lithuania, with a focus on elevating bilateral and transatlantic engagement on key commercial priorities.

In Paris, Assistant Secretary Venkataraman will take a leading role in co-chairing the sixth U.S.-France Economic and Commercial Dialogue. This platform serves as a vital arena for strengthening the U.S.-France commercial partnership and addressing significant topics, including collaborative efforts in Ukraine’s reconstruction, advancements in artificial intelligence and semiconductors, and the promotion of digital trade.

The subsequent stops in Riga and Vilnius will see the Assistant Secretary engaging with Latvian and Lithuanian government officials. The discussions will center around shared priorities, strategic planning for Ukraine’s reconstruction, and exploring avenues for the United States, Latvia, and Lithuania to enhance cooperation. This collaboration aims to fortify preparedness, resilience, and effective responses to potential economic challenges.

Assistant Secretary Venkataraman’s journey underscores the United States’ commitment to deepening ties with European allies and fostering collaboration on issues of mutual significance.
