United Kingdom ICT Advanced Research and Invention Agency Launched
ARIA has been formally established in late January 2023 to identify and fund transformational science and technology at speed.
The Agency is a key part of the UK government’s plans to build a better future with innovation at the heart of growing the economy and improving lives. The UK has indeed committed to a $48 billion public R&D budget in its Spending Review, alongside the creation of ARIA.
ARIA has been set up as a $1 billion global super lab to fund transformational discoveries through frontier science and technology. Specifically ARIA will offer a $60 million+ budget for a 3-5 years project. The Agency is focused on attracting global scientific and entrepreneurial talent. Its remit is similar to U.S.-based ARPA.
