United Kingdom Healthcare West Midlands Health Tech Innovation Accelerator Program
U.S. developers of innovative health tech solutions, that have or are considering establishing operations in the West Midlands in Central England, are invited to register interest by applying to join the West Midlands Health Tech Innovation Accelerator program.
The West Midlands has a population of approximately 4.7 million people and incorporates the large industrial cities of Birmingham, Coventry, and Wolverhampton. It plays host to a vibrant and growing healthcare network which includes eight hospitals and thirty-five regional clinical research centers. The first stage of the $380 million Birmingham health and life sciences park is also set to open in 2024.
WMHTIA’s two-year program will bring together a consortium of experts from industry, academia, and the National Health Service (NHS) to provide long-term support, from business planning through to real-world testing, to help businesses develop and bring medical devices, diagnostics, or digital technology to market. The program is open to start-ups or SME’s that are established in the West Midlands or that contribute to the growth of the region. Additional information about the WMHTIA can be found here.
Any interested parties that are looking to establish in the region can explore participation in the West Midlands Growth Company’s Global Growth Programme, a soft-landing support package which can be used as a stepping stone to apply for the WMHTIA program.
U.S. companies in the healthcare industry are widely regarded for their innovation, quality products, and after-sale training and service, making them very competitive in the UK market - which also shares a similar business culture with the United States. Subsector opportunities include telemedicine, medical equipment, consulting, and more.
