United Kingdom Financial Technology Review
Her Majesty’s Treasury launched an independently led review of the UK financial technology (FinTech) industry to identify opportunities for growth. Led by the former CEO of Worldpay, the review will establish priority areas of focus for industry, policy makers, and regulators to ensure the ongoing success of the UK FinTech ecosystem. The review will provide recommendations on five main streams: skills and talent, investment, national connectivity, policy, and international attractiveness. The findings of the review are expected to be reported to the UK government in early 2021.
The UK FinTech sector employs nearly 60,000 people and is worth an estimated $9.1bn (£7bn) to the UK economy. In 2019 the sector attracted over $5.3bn (£4.1bn) in venture capital.
