United Kingdom Design and Construction High Speed Track (HS2) Tender Update

High Speed 2 (HS2) is a high-speed, emission-free railway in the UK currently under construction. The railway was originally planned to link London, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds with a new “Y”-shaped network, but the cancellation of the remainder of the project leaves only the London to Birmingham segment. HS2 is expected to begin running between 2029 and 2033, once Phase One is completed.

Funds for the cancelled portion of HS2 will be redirected to “NetworkNorth” – a plan to improve transportation connectivity, increase capacity and decrease journey times across Northern England and throughout the country.
