United Kingdom Automotive EV Charging Market 2024

The UK public sector electric vehicle charging point (EVCP) market could be valued over $4.3 billion by 2030. In line with the UK Government’s commitment to electrifying transport nationwide, local and municipal governments across the UK are heavily investing in EVCPs.

$2.1 billion has been set aside by the UK Government to expand the public charging network by 2030. Easily accessible EVCPs are considered crucial to electric vehicle adoption. In particular, the Government hopes to combat charging “deserts” in the North of England and Wales. The Government is also concerned with increasing the speed and capabilities of the public charging points.

To help support their goal of ending the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles by 2030, the UK Government have set the target of 300,000 public charging points by 2030. This will involve awarding nearly 4,500 new contracts to EVCP firms within six years, with each of these contracts commissioning an average of 55 EVCP units.

These new contracts present potential opportunities for U.S. companies with expertise in electric vehicle charging stations. U.S. companies have a worldwide reputation for innovative products, after-sales service and training which makes them competitive in the UK market.
