Thailand Eldercare Facilities
Thailand’s population is aging rapidly. Today, 20% of Thais are older than 60 years old, and by 2030, approximately one-third of the Thai population will be over 60 years old. According to Thailand’s Health and Elderly Establishment Confederation, this trend creates business opportunities for products and services for the elderly, valued at approximately $2.8 Billion.
Care for the elderly is a critical need. Thailand has approximately 800 nursing home operators, of which the majority are SMEs. Recently, large private hospitals have started to venture into nursing home businesses targeting high-income elders.
Leading public and private hospitals have built new facilities for serving the elderly. Siriraj Hospital is set to inaugurate its first Geriatric Medicine Centre in Samut Sakhon. Ramathibodi Hospital is developing the Elderly Care and Hospice, and Senior Residential Complex. Thammasat University Hospital is embarking on a digital transformation of its elderly care service.
