Romania Digital Transformation

An emergency ordinance was initiated by the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitization - Romania on the government cloud. A milestone in the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), an investment of almost €600 million and, more importantly, a crucial first step in Romania’s digital transformation. A Romanian Government cloud will allow public institutions to communicate with each other, which leads to productivity, development, modernization of Romania and, in general, happier citizens.

Some of the objectives are:

• The public-private partnership will be provided through the hybrid cloud. This hybrid system will allow for an optimal mix between state-of-the-art private solutions and public systems that guarantee the protection of citizens’ data.
• Marketplace: a virtual app store for public institutions to choose the best solutions for their needs. Just as people do through the app stores on their smart phones.
• Access logging and citizen notifications: citizens will be informed who, when and why is accessing their data. This “log” will not be able to be modified or deleted without leaving traces, ensuring the credibility and transparency of the system through a blockchain solution.
