Qatar Renewable Energy Growth of Solar Power Portfolio

QatarEnergy, the state-owned oil and gas company, has announced a plan to construct a 2-gigawatt solar power plant in Dukhan area, located approximately 80 kilometers west of Doha. This new facility is an addition to the existing Al-Kharsaah solar power plant. Both solar plants are projected to reach a total solar power capacity of 4 gigawatt by 2030 which will increase the country’s electrical power production capacity by 30 percent.

The initiative underscores Qatar’s dedication to sustainable development and reflects its ongoing efforts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions while diversifying the country’s energy mix. This move aligns with global trends toward renewable energy and commitment to environmental sustainability.
