Qatar Construction Sector Overview 2024
The construction industry in Qatar has experienced significant growth in recent years and the long-term outlook remains positive with moderate growth expected. However, after the completion of the World Cup-related projects, there was a decrease in construction projects mainly due to a shifting of priorities toward other areas of development in the country. Going forward, there will be a growing emphasis on sustainability in the industry with a focus on reducing environmental impact and promoting more eco-friendly practices.
The National Strategy on Environment and Sustainability aims to prioritize the protection of the environment and natural resources while also promoting sustainable development practices to ensure a healthy and prosperous future for all citizens. The strategy focuses on initiatives and policies that aim to reduce carbon emission, increase renewable energy, and improve waste management, among other important environment issues.
Qatar has also shown a strong commitment to sustainability in its future infrastructure. The country has implemented numerous initiatives and projects to reduce its carbon footprint and promote sustainable development. This includes the construction of eco-friendly buildings, investing in renewable energy sources and promoting sustainable transportations options. Qatar hosted the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP18) in 2012, further showcasing its dedication to sustainability. Additionally, there are plans to increase green spaces and biodiversity in the country, as well as to improve waste management systems to reduce pollution.
