Mexico Fuels and Petrochemicals Import Restriction

The items identified are under the 68 tariff items specified in the Law of General Import and Export Taxes, which comprise various petrochemical products that the Secretary of Energy identified as vulnerable to illicit trade and smuggling. Regular and premium gasoline and conventional diesel are exempt from these restrictions.  

Affected goods fall under specific Harmonized System (HS) Codes including but not limited to those for mineral products (e.g., 2707, 2709, 2710, 2712, and 2713) and Products of the Chemical or Allied Industries (e.g., 2901, 2902, 2905, 2909, and 3826). As of November 1, products are currently being blocked by land, rail, and seaports.
