Kuwait Healthcare Sector Digital Transformation
The Kuwait Vision 2035 (www.newkuwait.gov.kw) includes substantial investments in the areas of healthcare, infrastructure, services, and digital health solutions. The Kuwait Government’s 2024/2025 healthcare budget is $10 billion and represents 11% of the total budget. $608 million is allocated for healthcare infrastructure (including plans to build and expand 10 hospitals in the next five years), and $56 million to digital transformation.
The Ministry of Health is planning a “Hospital Information Exchange” platform aimed to enhance government operational efficiency through digital transformation. The project’s objective is to transition the National Center for Health Information (including 28 public hospitals and centers) from paper-based to digital systems. The project involves:
• Health data management system (links all hospitals to the National Center for Health Information)
• Integrated health records and reports accessibility
• Automated storage and retrieval for historical documents
Al Amiri Hospital is currently the only public hospital with a complete digital healthcare system. The other 27 public hospitals and centers are planning to follow the same digitalization model and are looking for U.S solutions.
Opportunities:
• Data analytics and data integration solutions
• Electronic patient records and prescription solutions
• Customer relationship management systems
• Data, network, and cloud security solutions
