Kenya East African Community introduces 4th band to common external tariff

The East African Community (EAC), a regional intergovernmental organization composed of seven members: Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda, and Tanzania, has introduced a fourth band common external tariff (CET) with a minimum rate of 0 percent, going up to rates of 10 percent, 25 percent, and a maximum rate of 35 percent in respect of all products imported into the EAC. The 4th Band products were initially part of the 3rd band CET with a minimum rate of 0 percent, going up to 10 percent, and 25 percent.  Effective July 1, 2022, EAC partner states have started applying the new EAC CET.   

Products in this 4th band include; cosmetics, beauty and personal care, dairy and meat products, cereals, cotton and textiles, iron and steel, edible oils, and beverages and spirits, furniture, leather products, fresh-cut flowers, fruits and nuts, sugar and confectionery, coffee, tea and spices, textiles and garments, head gears, ceramic product, cosmetics, and paints, among others.  For complete list of products under the 4th band see here
