Hungary Dental Market

The Hungarian dental market is growing steadily, supported by expansion of dental tourism, increased demand for both new and restorative treatments, and growing interest and investments in private dental clinics.   Hungary’s dental tourism market is projected to lead the regional European market with an estimated revenue growth rate of 23.4 percent between 2024 and 2030.

Hungarian demand for dental services has surged by 11.4 percent annually since 2011.  According to Horizon Grand View Research, dental service expenditures in Hungary are expected to see an increase from roughly USD 613 million in 2023, to about USD 880 million by 2028, reflecting an average annual growth rate of 5.7 percent. In 2023, Hungary ranked 16th in dental service expenditures worldwide.  Dental implants were Hungary’s largest revenue generating service in 2023, and dental cosmetics were the most lucrative segment, registering the fastest growth rate during the period.

There were 7,180 dentists practicing in Hungary in 2023, and the number is projected to increase to 7,690 by 2028, representing an average annual growth rate of 1.2 percent.    As such, there are approximately 10 dentists per 10,000 residents in Hungary and the dental market is mainly comprised of private dental clinics.

The Government of Hungary has provided financial support worth HUF 88 billion forints (USD 225m) for the development of the health-care system and improving the quality of services, including a focus on diagnostics, such as CT and MR scanning devices used in the dental industry.   Under the scheme, HUF 2.7 billion (USD 6.9 million) has been earmarked to replace and upgrade existing CT and MR scanning devices.
