Hong Kong Wellness Supplements for Women

Women make up 49.6% of the workforce in Hong Kong. Compared to other neighboring East Asian countries, Hong Kong women have made notable strides in the workplace and leadership roles as they benefit from better education opportunities and favorable workplace conditions.  Female workers between the ages 40-60 is the largest demographic and arguably the most experienced employees will experience perimenopause/ menopause over the next few years, posing a new challenge to the already strained workforce due to Hong Kong’s migration trend.  

According to The Women’s Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls in Hong Kong, the topic of menopause is not well understood and lacked general awareness. In a recent study conducted by the Bank of America on Menopause in the Workplace, respondents listed symptoms like hot flashes, weight gain, inability to sleep, night sweats, brain fog, dryness, and bladder control affecting productivity at work.  The study was aimed at raising awareness on menopause in the workplace and a business imperative for the company proactively retain talent as 1.3 million women in the U.S. will transition into menopause each year.  

While traditional Chinese medicine have been used historically to treat menopause symptoms, today’s Hong Kong consumers are far savvier.  They are buying from specialist stores or ordering products from international ecommerce sites. Some of the top selling menopause related supplements include Vitasprint, Orthomol, and magnesium.  

Hong Kong consumers can benefit from some of the innovative products that U.S. companies have developed for women undergoing this critical transition from dietary, personal care products, and skincare.
