Given its market openness around the world, the ICT market in Hong Kong is very mature. IT decision makers rely greatly on reports from IT consultancy and advisory firms such as Gartner, Forrester, and IDC to help them narrow down the choices of potential vendors. Being listed on these reports not only builds brand awareness in the market, but also enhances credibility among potential customers. 
 
U.S. companies should understand the fast-faced business climate and high degree of customer service that is expected in Hong Kong. To be successful, U.S. companies may consider allocating some resources to hiring a local representative to be the Hong Kong-based contact point or find a local partner that can provide sales and technical support to your customers.
 
Hong Kong provides robust intellectual property rights (IPR) protection. The Hong Kong Government recognizes many international treaties, conventions and agreements which set out the standards, requirements and obligations for different types of IPR protection. The Hong Kong’s IPR regime conforms to international standards on the protection of IPR.

Hong Kong has a friendly business environment and regulatory regime. According to the Fraser Institute, Hong Kong was ranked as the world’s freest economy in the Economic Freedom of the World 2020 Annual Report.
