El Salvador ICT 6GHz Spectrum

El Salvador opened the full 6 gigahertz spectrum for unlicensed technologies, expanding the export market for Wi-Fi 6E devices.

El Salvador’s Electricity and Telecommunications Superintendency, SIGET, freed up the entire 6GHz band (5.925 to 7.125 MHz) through a resolution in 2023. The resolution entered effect on July 10th, officially modifying the national frequency allocation table.

The resolution allows the use of Wi-Fi devices indoors and has restrictions on the use of devices on vehicles, trains, ships, aircraft, and devices aimed to communicate or control unmanned vehicles.  Restrictions do not apply to aircraft flying above 10, 000 feet.

A copy of the resolution in Spanish is available in the Official Gazette . Date of publication: July 10, 2023, page 113.
