Croatia Energy Gas Infrastructure Investment
Croatia plans to construct four gas pipelines by mid-2026, significantly increasing the capacity for transporting natural gas from the LNG terminal on Krk. The construction will include the following segments/routes: Zlobin - Bosiljevo, Bosiljevo - Sisak, Kozarac - Sisak, and Zabok - Lučko. The new infrastructure will facilitate the transport of gas from the LNG terminal on Krk to Slovenia, Hungary, and other countries in Southeast Europe. Construction on the Zlobin - Bosiljevo segment has already begun. This entire project is funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan under the REpowerEU initiative, with a total budget of EUR 533.08 million.
Apart from this investment, two major regional projects are also planned in the next three to four years: the Southern Interconnection, which will encompass 74 kilometers of new pipeline in Croatia and 169 kilometers in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Ionian-Adriatic Gas Pipeline (IAP), designed for the transport of Azerbaijani gas, featuring a 250-kilometer pipeline in Croatia and a 261-kilometer pipeline in Albania and Montenegro.
These projects hold potential for U.S. companies with expertise in pipeline construction and related equipment. For further details and assistance, please contact the U.S. Commercial Service office in Croatia at: office.zagreb@trade.gov.
