Costa Rican Public Infrastructure Project
Administration Chaves Robles is interested to restructure government expenditures and reduce operation costs in public offices rents.
In an effort to restructure government expenditures and reduce operational costs, the Chaves Administration, jointly with Central America Bank of Economic Integration (CABEI), announced the “Ciudad Gobierno” project that aims to build more than 178,000 square meters to allocate an estimated 18 ministries and other government offices that will house 10,000 public servants in a single complex.
The project will be administered and managed by CABEI (owner of the buildings) for the first 25 years, and will then transfer ownership and operational rights to the Government of Costa Rica under a BOLT model (build, operate, lease and transfer). Total cost is estimated in USD $450 million. CABEI is fully supporting the investment.
Costa Rica Government announced the winning proposal of an open design contest from the Venezuelan architect Franco Micucci and will be called Parque Civico Metropolitano (Metropolitan Civic Park). The construction of this project will generate savings estimated in USD $23 million annually in rent.
