Colombia Aerospace Satellite Market
Colombia’s commitment to aerospace innovation continues with the development of FACSAT-3, a satellite entirely designed and developed in Colombia. This advancement presents significant opportunities for U.S. exporters in the aerospace and defense sectors.
The Colombian Air Force (FAC) has been steadily advancing its aerospace capabilities, starting with the launch of FACSAT-1 in 2018 and continuing with FACSAT-2 in 2023. FACSAT-3 represents a new milestone, aiming to enhance national security, environmental monitoring, and disaster management through improved satellite technology.
FACSAT-3 will be developed with Colombian architecture, design, and technology. U.S. companies can explore partnerships for technology transfer, collaboration in research, and the provision of advanced components or systems to support the satellite’s construction and operation.
The Space Operations Center (SpOC) at Marco Fidel Suárez Air Base will oversee mission planning, satellite control, and data processing. This infrastructure offers opportunities for U.S. companies specializing in satellite operations, command and control systems, and data analysis to collaborate with their Colombian counterparts.
This joint effort will not only strengthen Colombia’s aerospace capabilities but also open new doors for innovation and technological development between both countries. Interested companies should consider engaging with SpOC to explore the multiple collaboration possibilities this project presents.
