China Motorcycle Market
According to the China Motorcycle Chamber of Commerce, 8.26 million new motorcycles were registered in 2020, an annual growth rate of 43%. The growth rate for motorcycle ownership has now surpassed that of passenger vehicles.
The increase in demand is driven by a few factors, including Chinese consumers’ growing preference for green transportation and a desire to reduce the use of mass transit due to concerns over COVID-19. In addition, young urban riders value mobility and believe using motorcycles improves their commuting efficiency. Lower motorcycle prices combined with increased consumer purchasing power have made them an affordable option. Moreover, sharing riding experiences online has become very popular on Chinese social media.
