Argentina Clinical Laboratory
Imports of laboratory parts and supplies into Argentina amounted to $161 million in 2022, while imported equipment reached $178 million in the same period. The U.S. was the main supplier with a 46 percent and 22 percent, respectively, of import market share, followed by China. *
There are approximately 6,500 clinical laboratories in Argentina of which about 1,000 are public and 5,500 are private. Among private companies, approximately 20 large laboratories handle most of the processing throughout the country.
Opportunities for U.S. exporters that offer high quality products with competitive pricing may be found in the following areas including, but not limited to:
• Diagnostic reagents: chronic and infectious (diabetes, rapid tests); molecular diagnostics (oncology, personalized medicine); clinical chemistry reagents (cholesterol, glucose); and genetics and genomics (molecular biology, bioinformatic analysis, capillarity sequencing, next generation sequencing).
• Equipment/Services: IT diagnostic solutions (lab test services, instruments, and consumables)
All imports of medical products must be carried out by an importer registered with the Argentine food, drug, and medical equipment regulatory agency, ANMAT, which is the Argentine equivalent of the U.S. FDA. Working with your appointed importer or distributor is key to processing registration.
