U.S.-Japan Economic Policy Consultative Committee (EPCC, or Economic “2+2”): The 2+2 is led by U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken and U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, and by Japan’s Ministers for the Economy, Trade and Industry Nishimura and Minister of Foreign Affairs Hayashi. The Commerce initiative focuses on strengthening semiconductor supply chains, coordinating on export controls, and promoting innovation especially as it relates to the digital economy.
U.S.-Malaysia Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) on Semiconductor Supply Chain Resilience: Secretary Raimondo and then-Minister for International Trade and Industry Azmin Ali signed an MOC to promote collaboration on semiconductor supply chains with Malaysia.
U.S.-Singapore Partnership for Growth and Innovation (PGI): Secretary Raimondo and Singapore Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong signed an Memorandum of Understanding, implementing the U.S.-Singapore PGI to strengthen U.S.-Singapore trade and investment collaboration on priority topics such as e-commerce, cybersecurity, clean energy and climate change solutions, medical technologies, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
U.S.-South Korea Supply Chain and Commercial Dialogue (SCCD): Secretary Raimondo and South Korean Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Chang Yang Lee signed an MOU to launch the SCCD to expand and elevate commercial cooperation by strengthening the international competitiveness of U.S. and Korean industries under four working groups: 1. Advanced Manufacturing and Supply Chain Resilience, including Semiconductors (Manufacturing Resiliency) 2. Dual-Use Export Controls 3. Digital Economy and 4. Healthcare and Healthcare Technology.
Australia-U.S. Strategic Commercial Dialogue (AUSSCD): Secretary Raimondo and then-Minister for Trade, Tourism, and Investment Dan Tehan launched the AUSSCD to work together on the key challenges to support prosperity and peace, respond to economic coercion, build more secure supply chains, and facilitate a clean transition that supports the Paris Agreement.
Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) Upskilling Initiative: This is a public-private endeavor to support sustainable and inclusive economic growth in IPEF emerging and middle-income economies. Fourteen U.S. companies respectively pledged to provide 500,000 or more digital upskilling opportunities for women and girls in the region for a total of more than 7 million training sessions in Brunei, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

- The 2023 Trade Winds Business Forum in Bangkok included an EMPOWER (Export Markets that Provide Opportunities for Women’s Economic Rise) Asia program on March 12. U.S. Delegates gathered with Asia-based women business leaders to exchange experiences and perspectives on challenges and opportunities women face across the Indo-Pacific region.
- On March 14, 2023, the Trade Winds Business Forum held a SelectUSA Tech seminar to provide practical U.S.-expansion information to Asia-based startups. The Seminar also highlighted the Select Global Women in Tech Mentorship Network in support of international women tech entrepreneurs and executives to overcome challenges in scaling, promoting, fundraising, and establishing U.S. based businesses.
- Clean EDGE Asia Southeast Asia Trade Mission to Indonesia and Vietnam: On June 6-13, 2022, Pamela Phan, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asia, led a whole-of-government mission that included a USTDA delegation led by its Director Ebong, and Export-Import Bank representatives. The delegation met with public and private sector leaders to discuss trade opportunities, pursue investment deals; and explore project needs and financing to address Southeast Asia climate change challenges. The U.S. delegation included 11 renewable energy and fuels, energy storage, hydrogen, smart grid, nuclear, and liquefied natural gas sub-sector companies.
