Office of Standards and Intellectual Property

""

The Office of Standards and Intellectual Property (OSIP) promotes foreign market opportunities for U.S. products and services through advancements in standards and intellectual property rights trade policy. OSIP includes two teams: Standards and Intellectual Property.

The Standards team leads work on standards and conformity assessment related policy issues including those related to the standards development process, potential barriers to market access in global markets, and capacity building efforts to promote regulatory cooperation. It serves as the liaison to the American National Standards Institute, Standards Development Organizations, and DOC’s National Institute of Standards and Technology.

The Intellectual Property team advocates for the IPR of U.S. businesses and advises the International Trade Administration on IPR issues. It also provides direct assistance to companies seeking to protect and enforce IPR in foreign markets, including through the STOPfakes.gov Roadshow program.
