SelectUSA 2013 Investment Summit, Oct. 31- Nov. 1, 2013
The SelectUSA 2013 Investment Summit is a first-of-its-kind, national-level engagement intended to connect businesses and investors from around the world with U.S. economic development organizations at the state, regional, and local levels. The SelectUSA 2013 Investment Summit is being hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration, and SelectUSA, as part of a U.S. government-wide initiative to promote direct investment in the United States.

40th Baghdad International Fair, Oct. 10-20, 2013

Developing Franchise Opportunities in Iraq, June 20-22, 2013
The U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Commerce hosted a delegation of business executives from Northern Iraq (Erbil and Sulaimaniyah) to participate in a Commercial Law and Development Program (CLDP) training program led by attorney Mais Abousy and attend the International Franchise Expo in New York City from June 20-22, 2013. The eleven delegation members representing general trading companies in Northern Iraq met with American companies representing food and health care related franchisors. They also participated in a CLDP training program highlighting the key concepts of franchising, as well as the technical and legal requirements for negotiating and choosing the right franchise. The delegation conducted site visits to local franchises and visited the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
The delegation concluded their visit by travelling to Washington, DC where they participated in an Interagency meeting with representatives from the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Commerce on June 27, 2013.

Basrah Business Delegation Study Tour, May 20-24, 2013
Following on the Basrah-Houston Partners in Trade Agreement, signed by the Governor of Basrah and the Mayor of Houston in December 2012, the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Commerce in conjunction with the Bilateral U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce, the City of Houston, and the U.S. Business Council in Iraq, hosted a delegation of business executives from Basrah. The Iraqi business men were interested in establishing relationships with U.S. companies in the construction, engineering and energy sectors. During the study tour, the delegation met with business members of the Bilateral U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce, participated in a Commercial Law and Development Program (CLDP) training program and conducted site visits with ten Houston based companies. Among the companies visited were: 84 Lumber, Dynamo Stadium, Exxon Mobil / Fluor, GE Capital, J.P. Morgan Chase, Price Waterhouse Cooper, Western Forums and Structura International, Teton Buildings and the Texas Medical Center. The delegation also met with the Mayor’s Council of International Trade and Development hosted by Vice-Mayor Edward Gonzalez from the City of Houston.
The Governorate of Basrah’s entire budget is over $5 billion dollars annually with at least $380 million in construction, engineering, transportation, and housing projects forecasted to be procured during the next three years as they prepare to host the upcoming Gulf Cup in 2015.

Iraq Energy Expo and Conference, April 23-26th, 2013
The Iraq Energy Expo and Conference is the only official government-sponsored expo and conference by the Iraq Ministry of Oil. Previously, there have been more than 80 companies, from 17 countries attending and participating in the expo and conference. They welcome all international companies to participate in upstream and downstream development.
There will be an extensive expo and an engaging conference with hands-on workshops looking at present needs, tenders and future opportunities.
