Updated U.S. Recent Notable Trends Dashboard 

The Steel Import Monitoring and Analysis (SIMA) team strives to provide the most timely and accurate data possible for the industry to track trade patterns. Updates have been made to the U.S. Recent Notable Trends dashboard, which displays notable changes in SIMA’s steel import trends by country and product. The update modernizes the dashboard’s appearance, improves visibility of its visuals, and allows users to better access filtering features. 

SIMA welcomes hearing from its readers about the value of the reports and other country reports that might be of interest. Please reach out to steel.license@trade.gov with any feedback.

Import Licensing
All steel mill imports into the United States require an import license for Customs entry summary. The steel import license is an automatic license used for data collection purposes only. Importers and customs brokers use this website to obtain their steel licenses prior to completing their Customs entry documentation.

ITA’s reports provide detailed data on steel trade and the current state of the U.S. steel industry. The country reports focuses on trade trends for the top steel importing and exporting countries, along with production, consumption, and steel trade remedy information.

Commerce publishes: (1) the U.S. Steel Import Monitor combines data from Census and import licenses, updated weekly; (2) the Global Steel Trade Monitor shows trends for top steel trading countries; (3) the Steel Export Monitor shows public U.S. steel export data; (4) the Melt and Pour Dashboard displays country of melt and pour data collected from SIMA's licensing application data. and (5) the Downstream Steel Monitor shows U.S. imports/exports of steel-containing products.
